BioNitrogen approved for major special zoning exception
BioNitrogen Corporation, a cleantech company that utilizes proprietary technology to build environmentally-friendly plants that convert biomass into urea fertilizer, announced that it has received approval from the Board of County Commissioners of Hardee County for a Major Special Exception that allows construction of the plant to proceed without re-zoning. On the same day, BioNitrogen also received notice of issuance of its Environmental Resource Permit from the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Both approvals clear major permitting hurdles for the development of the project.
Construction on the site is slated to commence in early 2013. The proposed plant will be able to produce 15 tons of urea fertilizer hourly, totaling 360 short tons daily or 124,200 tons annually.
