Excitement is building as preparations for the 2014 annual meeting and AG PRO EXPO in New Orleans continue. The annual meeting committee has a great program planned, the exhibit hall is sold out, and there are more roundtable sessions and networking opportunities than ever.

Workshops

The discussions among crop consultants will start even before the conference with a Roundtable Workshop entitled “Consultants/advisor developing practical solutions to resistance management.” This workshop is not your typical resistance management session, as it has been specifically designed so that 75 percent of the time will be spent in open discussion with other ag professionals.

Researchers and quality assurance specialists can also get started early with a GLP Training workshop that offers three levels of training: Basic GLP, Advanced GLP or the Practical Field workshop.

Networking and Roundtable Opportunities Expanded

When the meeting officially starts on Jan. 30, Track 1 of the program will see attendees going straight into a 135 minute roundtable session with rotating topics of importance to crop consultants today. Later that same day, Track 2 attendees have a 90-minute session set aside to either set up client meetings or attend the Emerging Technologies session.

These opportunities are in addition to the regular Saturday morning roundtable sessions and the great social networking opportunities throughout the meeting.

Multi-disciplinary Topics

One aspect of the program that is really evident this year is that there are topics in all session tracks that will be of interest to both crop and research consultants. Track 1 has topics such as mobile office technology, business and customer relations, precision ag implementation, fleet management and emerging technologies, while Track 2 has two session devoted to “Looking Forward in Agriculture” in areas such as developments in adjuvants, herbicide tolerant traits in soybeans, organic and biological pesticides and much more.  Both tracks have sessions addressing drought and climate, and the joint session focusing on spray drift with speakers addressing technology, best practices for aerial application, and perspectives on product stewardship. Much of this is sure to be of interest to all attendees.

Meeting App Continued and Improved

The NAICC introduced a meeting app at the 2013 annual meeting in Jacksonville, Fla., and this year the app is back and loaded with more features than ever! As with last year, attendees can view the “app” on- and off-line from any device, including desktops and laptops. In fact, we encourage you to browse the site in advance at http://eventmobi.com/naicc14 from your computer to become familiar with the layout and all it has to offer. New this year is the ability to network peer-to-peer through the app even if you have never previously met the person you’re looking for! Use this feature to make new connections, catch up with old contacts you haven’t run into yet or send follow-up questions to speakers.

Continuing Education Units Available

Consultants will have the opportunity to gain 25 consultant education units (CEUs) through this year’s CPCC program. NAICC has also submitted the preliminary program to various state and national certification programs and associations for CEU credit review. The quality assurance portion of the program is being reviewed for CEUs by the Society of Quality Assurance. CEUs awarded for these programs will be announced in the “NAICC News,” on the NAICC Web site and at registration.
